Nearly Christmas

Some of the children have been working on their passion project during our 5 Senses studies. Four of them were very interested in dogs. Dogs were a great passion to include in our inquiry as they are so soft to touch. The children each chose a particular dog to focus on and then they worked hard washing dogs, taking care of our classroom dogs by petting them and looking into what dogs like to eat. They also found that dogs need to go to the vet for care.

Everyone made a dog from shapes helping our understanding of shapes in life and how to represent things by using shapes.

The dogs were washed and dried carefully.

What is Christmas and who celebrates?

In our class we have been looking at the celebration of Christmas and talking about who celebrates it. We understand that just like Diwali, Ramadan and Loi Kratong not everyone celebrates Christmas but it is good to learn about it so that we can understand other people.

We have been preparing a small show for our parents for Thursday 14 in the morning at 10.30 am. We look forward to sharing that with you all.

Our Five Senses

What is it???

We have been looking at our Five Senses. When thinking about what we see we have played the Kim's game and also used different ways to look at things. This week we used a cloth and light to make shadows and try to guess what people were holding.

We then did some shadow dancing.

After that the children experimented with more choices they had made.

We can feel the numbers.

Using playdough the children made the shapes of the numbers from 0 to 5. It felt soft.
